About

Tracey Hill is a local artist with an international perspective. She’s lived on three continents but has come to call Boulder, Colorado her home.

Growing up in South Africa during the age of apartheid, Tracey observed the juxtaposition of incredible beauty and profound injustice. She struggled to maintain the family clothing factory in the face of dramatically changing social and economic realities, but in the wake of the collapse of the clothing industry, Tracey left South Africa to find a better life in charming Somerset in the West Country of England where she enjoyed a very different type of life in a dramatically different environment.

It was in South Africa where Tracey developed her sense of beauty among the mundane and derelict, but it was in Somerset where she had the time to reflect, and develop her artist’s perspective, while traveling in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

Tracey has become a integral part of her community in Boulder, volunteering for a number of  charities, and involving herself fully in local culture. Tracey lives there with her husband and three children. And does most of the art in her studio in their home.

Tracey says she likes to incorporate her love of color and her playful nature into her work.  Each piece has its own story. She continues her passion for travel and art.
